I help golfers increase their flexibility, increase their core strength, play pain-free golf, and shoot lower scores by employing a unique system that’s very different from traditional golf fitness programs. In short, my job is to make you better.
How will this golf fitness program help you?
As the body ages, it loses flexibility. Loss of flexibility is the single most important physical characteristic likely to influence one’s golf swing. A tight body restricts the motion of the swing and can even lead to injuries.
Flexibility, mobility, core strength and power can all be improved by exercises tailored specifically for each golfer.
My name is Chris Ownbey and I’m the founder of Chris Ownbey’s Golf Fitness, located in Dallas, TX. As a Certified Golf Fitness Expert by the Titleist Performance Institute and certified personal fitness trainer, I have a passion for golf & fitness and have worked for the past 20 years to perfect my golf game while helping others do the same.
I have learned that there are specific golf exercises that will not only improve your overall health, but also drastically improve your golf game! Traditional exercise routines, like lifting weight and cardio may be good for your overall health, but they will do little to help your golf game.
It all comes down to this main concept: the mechanics of a golf swing require specific levels of flexibility, balance, stability, strength, endurance and power to perform efficiently. Regardless of how much time you work on your swing mechanics, if your body doesn’t have the core strength to support your swing, you are limiting your potential. The bottom line is that your mechanics won’t get better until you fix the body that swings the club.
