About Daniel

My name is Daniel Marinello and I was born and raised on the Eastside. I was lucky enough to have a patient dad and grandpa who taught me how to play golf when I was in elementary school. Golf has always been a major part of our family and I think that is what sparked my enthusiasm to become a golf fitness trainer. I started my work as a personal trainer during my senior year of high school. Fitness was always a major passion of mine and sharing that passion with others did not feel like work to me. Over the following five years I helped clients lose fat, gain muscle and better their health. Not long ago I stumbled upon a Rory McIlroy workout video. Little did I know but Rory was addicted to weightlifting and is a beast in the gym. This got me thinking about fitness training for golf.


 


I began researching golf related training programs and learned about the Titleist Performance Institute (TPI), which is the gold standard for golf oriented training for medical professionals, fitness professionals and golf instructors. I saw that of the top 200 players in the world, 195 had a TPI certified member on their team. I realized that participating in TPI training was clearly the best way to learn about golf fitness training. My level 1 TPI course was life changing. The instructors were first class and I left wanting to dedicate all my time to golf fitness training. I then immediately started my level 2 course, where I received advanced training on golf fitness programming, progressions and nutrition. By the completion of this course I was all in, and I started my business, Seattle Golf Fitness.


 


Through Seattle Golf Fitness, I help clients improve their golf by improving their bodies. Through understanding how your specific body works, I can help you to improve your weaknesses, capitalize on your strengths, and find your most effective swing. Everyone’s swing is different and there is no “correct” swing. Many golf instructors will record your swing on video and then compare your swing to Tiger’s or Jordan’s, but this is unfair to you as less than 1% of golfers have the physical abilities to get into the same positions as the pros. My job as a golf personal trainer is to not to ensure you can replicate Tiger’s swing. Instead, it is to help you develop the most efficient swing that your body can produce.

Let me tell you about my experience with Marinello Fitness. I contacted Daniel approximately 6 months before I was due to go to Navy Boot Camp. I was 30 years old and at 195lbs, I was overweight. I hadn't really worked out very much in my life, and so I wasn't used to doing so and as such I was very unfit. I couldn't even do five push ups and I certainly couldn't run down to the end of the a football field without being out of breath about half way there. To be able to be boot camp ready I had to lose some pounds, be able to do more push ups and sit ups as well as run 1.5 miles. I had to be able to compete with 18 years old who were fresh out of high school. It was a very intimidating prospect for my future and it left me very anxious. After contacting Daniel, he promptly got back in touch with me and after first assessing my current level of fitness, he came up with a great work out plan to help me reach my goals and that met my budget restraints. The plan was for five days a week of personal training and was not overly difficult, and he was careful to help me make sure that I didn't injure myself. He also gave exceptional advice on diet and nutrition that was healthy, and would still enable me to have delicious food. Throughout the entire process Daniel was never judgmental and was very patient, pleasant, encouraging, and always cared about my long term success, he is an amazing motivator. By the end of my time time working with Daniel I ended up being able to reach all of my goals, losing more than 20lbs, and not only meeting, but exceeding the requirements to pass Navy Boot Camp. I was able to do more sit-ups than any of the 18 year-olds that were there! If you ever have the privilege to work with Daniel, I suggest you take it. He will help you reach all of your goals in a way better than anyone else can. I also know for a fact that Daniel is always getting big dollar offers from oil rich Sheikhs in the Middle East to help them with their fitness and their golf game, so make use of him while you still have him.
